Despite all the disagreements with the USA, Ukraine is prepared to sign an agreement on minerals and collaborate in the peace process.
But it cannot agree to dangerous ceasefire conditions with the Russian Federation.
This was stated in a message from
Zelensky on X (Twitter).
The president assured that Ukraine is very grateful to the United States for all the support provided, specifically thanking Trump, both parties in Congress, and the American people.
“For us, President Trump's support is very important. He seeks to end the war. But no one wants peace more than we do. We are the ones living in a state of war in Ukraine. This is a fight for our freedom and literally our survival,” emphasized Zelensky.
Volodymyr Zelensky reminded that yet another agreement on a "ceasefire" would not lead to anything good, as Russia has violated such agreements 25 times since 2014.
“We are ready to sign an agreement on minerals, and this will be the first step towards security guarantees. But this is not enough; we need more than that. A ceasefire without guarantees is dangerous for Ukraine,” the president stressed.
Zelensky continued that Ukraine cannot change its position towards the Russian Federation.
“The Russians are killing us. Russia is the enemy; this is our reality. Ukraine wants peace, but it must be a just and stable peace. For this, we must be in a strong position at the negotiating table. Peace can only come when we have security guarantees, when our army is strong, and when our partners support us... We cannot simply stop fighting without guarantees that Putin will not return tomorrow,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky. No one wants another wave of occupation. If we are not accepted into NATO, there needs to be some clear structure of security guarantees from our allies in the U.S.,” he stressed.
He noted that Europe is ready to contribute to supporting Ukraine, but the role of the U.S. is also very important.
“We also need U.S. involvement in defining security guarantees: what they will be, in what volumes, and when. Once the guarantees are defined, we can talk with Russia, Europe, and the U.S. about diplomatic steps,” Zelensky explained.
“I would like the U.S. to be more on our side. This is not just some war between two countries. Russia brought this war to our land, to our homes... It is clear that the U.S. may seek dialogue with Putin. But the U.S. has always talked about 'peace through strength.' And together we can take strong steps against Putin,” said the president.

left the White House early. Before this, there was a heated exchange between him and the team of U.S. President Donald Trump.
