President Volodymyr Zelensky has approved new sanctions from the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine through his decree.
They are aimed "at those who go against the country."
Zelensky mentioned this in a
Telegram post.
"I have just signed a decree that reinforces the National Security and Defense Council's decision on sanctions. We are blocking propagandists working for Russia, individuals who have sided with the enemy, and those who assist Russia in continuing the war. Additionally, we are continuing to revoke state awards – the title of Hero of Ukraine should only be given to those who truly dedicate their lives to Ukraine. Decisions will be made soon," said the president.
On the eve of January 18,
announcing new sanctions, Zelensky expressed gratitude for the effective work of law enforcement in countering traitors and various schemes that weaken the state.
Let us remind you that on January 18, law enforcement agencies reported:
- about the
detention of two employees of a company who, in mid-2022, along with a Russian national, transferred material resources worth over $115,000 to Russia through an intermediary from a third country. These materials were sent to the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in the Moscow region, Russia.
- about the
detention of an employee of "Ukrzaliznytsia" and the metro for treason and denying Russia's attack on Ukraine.
- about the
announcement of suspicion against a Ukrainian people's deputy for organizing illegal border crossings. The court will soon decide on the preventive measure for the politician - the prosecution is requesting detention.
- about the notification of
suspicion against the "curator" of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, a people's deputy from several convocations of the banned pro-Russian party "Opposition Bloc." He is suspected of treason and inciting religious enmity and hatred. Preliminary information suggests it concerns Vadim Novinsky.
